About . . .
I started my working life as an editorial department intern at British ELLE magazine, before moving into the music business working as a publicist for PR firms, music management companies and as head of Public Relations for Richard Branson's V2 Music Group in London, as well as for EMI Music in Auckland.
I moved across into book publishing, working for Frederick Warne and Penguin Books (both in London and later in Auckland) organising and publicising author tours for Marian Keyes, Charlotte Dawson, Morris Gleitzman and many others, as well as working as a book reviewer for newspapers and a book editor for publishers such as Allen & Unwin, Penguin Random House, Harper Collins and Hachette Livre. I also have four books published through Gecko Press / Frances Lincoln, Tuttle and New Holland.
I have also worked as a music video producer, photographer's assistant, PR agency account director, post-production facility manager, mayoral speech-writer, communications and media manager, digital communications officer and book editor.
As a journalist, I have written cover stories and lifestyle features, including profile pieces on sportspeople and artists, as well as travel, design, business, family, food and beauty/wellbeing articles for The Age, BBC Travel, Jetstar magazine, Escape, Herald Sun, Sunday Life magazine, Geelong Advertiser, GOxplore, Go Camping, Good, Oh Baby!, Yahoo/MSN, AA Directions, Business Life, the Guardian, Geelong Surf Coast Living, House of Wellness, New Zealand Herald, Domain, The Sydney Morning Herald, Weekend Herald, Herald on Sunday, Adelaide Advertiser, Hobart Mercury, Daily Telegraph, Courier Mail and various other outlets. I have also written regular newspaper columns in Australia and New Zealand.
In PR and communications, I have also worked for EMI Music, Goode PR, Pead PR, the pr shop, Intrapac Property, Life Saving Victoria, Surf Coast Shire Council, Colac Otway Shire Council, Vail Resorts (as senior communications manager looking after internal and external communications for Perisher, Falls Creek and Hotham ski resorts) and many PR clients directly through my own PR business, particularly in the arts, travel and tourism, emergency services, property and FMCG sectors.
If you have a writing project or story idea to pitch me, feel free to get in touch.
